ReImagine Telstra - Telstra

Motivating 30,000 people to change is not a task for the faint hearted! Luckily, Telstra has nerves of steel.

Telstra is an organisation steeped in process and ‘the way things are done around here’.
The people and transformation team knew it needed to help people feel connected to the new strategy and supported to move through the fear that often comes with change. How to do that on such a massive scale?

Behold, Reimagine Telstra. An event created with their Human Capital Partner, Deloitte.

In partnership with DYC, we were engaged by Deloitte to create the opening sequence about resistance to change; the ‘Experience’ session, which told the story of old to new Telstra; and also to co-host the events with Telstra business leaders.

What an honour to stand in front of thousands of people and help them reimagine the future of their iconic organisation.

The 46 events received a LTR (Likely to recommend) of 9.1 and Telstra won the Stevie award Silver Medal for Best Live Event Award for ‘Corporate and Community - Engage or Educate Employees’.

Leading Transformation - Telstra

An iconic Australian brand at a critical moment in time.

7000 Telstra leaders charged with the task of bringing a new strategy to life through new ways of working and leading. Timing and success were critical.

In Partnership with Deloitte, DYC and TH+ co-created an immersive program that helped leaders get clarity on the vision, the new leadership metrics, and the skills required to follow through on the strategy.

Moving from master-commander style leadership to empowering and serving others is a big jump for many. We knew we had to tackle mindset. At the heart of the program was a bespoke interplay case study that cut straight to the internal barriers leaders face to change, and how to overcome them. Mindset was even a characters in the case study.

We explored core skills like service mindset, agile teaming, collaborative decision making and self-regulation under pressure.

We connected with 7000 leaders in 14 locations globally. We exceeded the 7.5-8.0 LTR (Likely to Recommended) targets set for us, averaging 8.7-8.9 week after week.

We are proud to have helped so many leaders move through something so significant.

GFS Roadshows F/Y20  - Telstra

A newly formed business unit at a time of major disruption. The energy of hundreds of people ready to be harnessed for transformation.

In partnership with DYC we were engaged to deliver a roadshow designed to equip teams with tools to help them have the tough conversations needed to change, with themselves and each other. We helped the team create a new team charter that would guide the behaviours and mindsets for the coming year.

We were invited back six months later to continue the work. By this time Covid had hit so we were virtual. We had a ball running virtual session in which we played out a difficult conversation and had the participants commenting and telling us what to change. Virtual breakout rooms helped the participants connect and strategize together.

"A fresh perspective on things, in a more structured way. They convert every topic to real ‘work scenarios’ , putting in theatre like enactments. This is a very visual and fun way for people to absorb the content."

Challenging Conversations Film -Telstra

Challenging Conversations. How do you help thousands of people get better at them simultaneously? You make a film of course!

In partnership with DYC we made a film that helps people have conversations about important issues. They can watch it just before a big conversation and it offers simple principles that are easy to remember.

The film shows an example of a tough conversations, and demonstrates how the leaders adjust their behaviour and mindset, through interaction, voice overs, interviews, and narration. It's a learning tool, so it’s not squeaky clean – it shows real people struggling through a tough interaction.

The film can be used in isolation with a simple learner guide, or it can be inserted into the coaching and feedback programs. We made sure we used Telstra’s language and existing feedback tools so it felt aligned to existing programs.

Respectful Workplace Behaviour - Sparke Helmore Lawyers

Elevating ‘mandatory training’ to a sophisticated conversation about the tough stuff for a mid-tier law firm.

Very few people set out to disrespect or undermine others, and yet our behaviour when under pressure can do just that. Left unchecked, relationships can erode and performance can decline.

We were delighted to be invited by Sparke Helmore to create a program to raise awareness of complex issues for the entire firm. We crafted a dynamic case study exploring stress-induced behaviour, bias, the role of bystanders and how to have conversations about behaviour before things escalate.

This preventative program was a great success and we converted the content into a digital format for longer term access.

We went on to run specialised session for practice groups on hot topics like sexual harassment. We were even given the challenge of creative a session for the Board and Executive team on bias in decision making. What an honour to be part of such an important conversation with some of the county’s sharpest minds.

This is a firm committed to an inclusive culture. Sparke Helmore has been recognised two years running as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

Tenille nails the brief every time, because she makes the effort to truly understand the organisational context for the program she is authoring, and uses her extensive experience in behavioural dynamics to tailor the content and make it relevant and reflective of our workplace, so that our people connect to the learning. But even more impressive, is the level of empathy she brings to a room so that even in discussion about challenging workplace topics like sexual harassment or bullying behaviour she can call out the nuances of perceptions in a constructive way, challenge entrenched views and convert the most cynical of participants to reflect on their thinking.

Respectful Workplace Behaviour Digital Experience - Gilbert+Tobin

Bullying. Sexual Harassment. Mental wellbeing. Not the easiest things to talk about with high achieving, pressured advisors who are rich in intelligence and poor in time. In 2019, the MeToo Movement was sweeping into the Australian corporate sector, mental health issues were on the rise, and client demands were not easing.

Our client wanted to do everything they could to ensure that the firm's people were safe, clear on expectations, and that no harm would come to the firm’s reputation through behaviour that wasn’t aligned to its values.

Tenille had partnered with G+T and delivered face-to-face training on these topics for over a decade, so it was time to change things up a bit. TH+ and G+T co-created a modularised digital experience.

We created characters, wrote scenarios, recorded voice overs and interactions, and curated great content. We even made a podcast with a mindfulness specialist. TH+ handed over the content design to the client who then did the instructional and graphic design, as well as animating the stories. It was a true collaboration.

Business Excellence Module: Coaching and Feedback – Top Tier Global Law Firm

In a law firm, feedback can be muddied with 'criticism' and even the most astute and learned practitioner can feel uncomfortable offering and receiving it.

This top tier law firm is always striving to elevate the quality of the coaching and feedback that people provide to each other.

TH+ was invited to design and delivery a high impact session that combined evidence-based theory, facilitated discussion and action learning. Participants practiced the fundamental skills of feedback and then how to convert that feedback into behavioral change through coaching.

We used a combination of our client’s own content, as well as our bespoke material. Partners opened up the sessions as sponsors and we have it on good authority that they learnt a lot themselves.

Tenille is passionate about providing high quality and tailored programs that match the specific need, and she always stays hands on from end to end, using her creativity to offer refreshing ideas, while remaining focused on a commercial outcome. Tenille is versatile in her offerings, bringing together digital, face to face, traditional and non-traditional approaches depending on the context. Not only is she a great designer, but she excels as a facilitator and coach.

Campaign Launch - Converge International

I’m a consultant, please don’t make me sell!

Technical specialists and advisors sometimes need a little nudge to get them talking to clients about things outside their comfort zone.

Converge International is a leading provider of EAP services to organisations.. They also have an amazing solution to many of their clients’ recruitment problems… the clients just didn’t know about it.

We worked with the Converge International consultants to deepen their confidence to ask question to uncover needs and introduce a solution where it would add value.

A campaign launch of sorts, we created experiences for the group to help them see how much they already knew and built their confidence to questions, ask for referrals, and be proactive with clients to introduce new things.

Emerging Leaders Program – Virtual

DYC and Minter Ellison Lawyers

How do you engage 100+ lawyers at a critical time in their careers when you can’t come together because there is a pandemic sweeping the globe? Zoom of course!

We worked with 3-5 year lawyers and helped them elevate their ability to set expectations, delegate clearly, provide feedback and tackle tough conversations. And we helped them with their virtual networking skills!
We were engaged by DYC to co-deliver a leadership program for a global law firm. Turns out Action Learning absolutely works virtually. In fact in many ways it is a more true to life experience. We played out scenarios, got the lawyers side coaching the characters through the chat function, and even got the lawyers practising tough (virtual) conversations themselves.

It is hard to engage time-poor lawyers, especially when they have their email right in front of them and we were blown away by the levels of engagement. The program has been a huge success and we’ve been invited back to work with them again.

Transformational leaders; clear communicators.
