Respectful Workplace Behaviour - Sparke Helmore Lawyers
Elevating ‘mandatory training’ to a sophisticated conversation about the tough stuff for a mid-tier law firm.
Very few people set out to disrespect or undermine others, and yet our behaviour when under pressure can do just that. Left unchecked, relationships can erode and performance can decline.
We were delighted to be invited by Sparke Helmore to create a program to raise awareness of complex issues for the entire firm. We crafted a dynamic case study exploring stress-induced behaviour, bias, the role of bystanders and how to have conversations about behaviour before things escalate.
This preventative program was a great success and we converted the content into a digital format for longer term access.
We went on to run specialised session for practice groups on hot topics like sexual harassment. We were even given the challenge of creative a session for the Board and Executive team on bias in decision making. What an honour to be part of such an important conversation with some of the county’s sharpest minds.
This is a firm committed to an inclusive culture. Sparke Helmore has been recognised two years running as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
Tenille nails the brief every time, because she makes the effort to truly understand the organisational context for the program she is authoring, and uses her extensive experience in behavioural dynamics to tailor the content and make it relevant and reflective of our workplace, so that our people connect to the learning. But even more impressive, is the level of empathy she brings to a room so that even in discussion about challenging workplace topics like sexual harassment or bullying behaviour she can call out the nuances of perceptions in a constructive way, challenge entrenched views and convert the most cynical of participants to reflect on their thinking.
